Thriveworks has great administration, and it was incredibly easy to make an appointment with no wait time. However, that's where the good experience ended. Our therapist was nice but completely ineffective. My husband and I went for couples counseling around whether we should have kids, and besides having us just do a pro/con list during session time (which is a waste of my money), she also said things like "you'll be such a great mom" which I found to be inconsiderate considering the reason I was there is because I'm not sure I want that. She also thought it was appropriate to tell us about her own life and experience with her kid rather than having us talk. All in the sessions were akin to talking to a relative pressuring us to have kids, but I paid for the experience instead (intro session and one actual session). The second session was so bad that my husband was passing me notes asking if we could end it early. I'm baffled why they thought this woman would be a good fit for us.

She also took another client's call during our time, which is inappropriate, and I passed that information on to Thriveworks.

Finally, we went to one of the DC offices for our visit in person, and when I went to get tap water, it was black. Not brown, black. Absolutely disgusting.

I really wanted to like Thriveworks for its ease and affordability, but I wanted actual therapy.

Edited to add: Yes, I will reach out via email, but you and anyone reading this should know I have already reported this information via text and did not receive a response.

I scheduled a consultation with a therapist that I did not like. She scheduled a follow up and I canceled it and selected that I did not want to see her anymore in the drop down menu in the reason for cancelation. She immediately scheduled more appts. I canceled all of them. She keeps adding more. When I call the main line no one will answer. No one has responded to my multiple emails in the portal either. I was also charged for a missed visit that wasn't even scheduled (they send confirmations for appointments as well as a link for the visit) by the same provider that won't stop scheduling visits. It won't let me delete the account or remove my credit card either.

Unprofessional. The second therapist I had randomly up and left the company. I did miss our last session by accident because we were scheduled for a certain time and we did a different time one week and it slipped my mind and I only realized it when I was through getting a massage. I emailed within an hour and never got a response. Emailed again and nothing at all. Call the company, they say she left. Third therapist, did the initial consult, for our second session we both agreed to reschedule f the following day which was a Saturday morning, she didn’t show up, emailed her to let her know I was on the zoom then hours later she emailed me saying she did not add me to the calendar. I kept getting emails every now and then since I started with trashworks for insurance verification which I kept providing and got confirmation that my insurance was accepted both by support and the therapists and now all of a sudden months later I’m being billed $1000. :/ womp womp womp.
The turnover is high and there’s definitely a reason. 1st therapist was amazing but I took a break from therapy came back and she was gone.

Update: I have had to pay an additional $700 on top of the original $1000. Imagine going for therapy and getting finessed by an institution that is supposed to help with mental health. Weird. At this point we should all move to Europe where they have free health care and education lol.

I had a great experience until I met with the provider name Kate today and my experience was not the best. She literally hung up on me less then 10 mins into the session. I would not recommend this particular provider ever. Kate is a psychiatrist with thrive please avoid. Sandra was amazing shes a psychologist because of her I will continue with thrive and find a new psychiatrist.

Brandan Vazquez is a fantastic counselor. He's helped me so much by being a terrific listener, providing me with constructive feedback, establishing a great rapport so that I can trust him and feel comfortable being open and honest with him, and holding me accountable so that I take steps to achieve my goals, grow, and improve. I'm very grateful for the opportunity I've had to work with him.

My counselor Alexis H. was BEYOND excellent!!! See really took the time to listen to not only my current issues/concerns but also this that I have experienced in the past. She worked with me on my goal planning and the steps to attain those goals. I am so glad that I came in contact with her. I feel renewed and refocused!!!

The concept is good but there’s a lot of unqualified people working there. First, I’ve asked on multiple occasions to file a complaint on the therapist that i had (Judith Upshaw), and not one time did someone point me in the right direction. I was literally IGNORED whoever i brought it up. Then, i tried to schedule with another therapist and was told there’s only ONE in the whole state who takes my insurance (i doubt that) and she was booked and i would need to call back in several weeks. They’re also still charging me and I’m not even being seen… Well, it’s been over a month later and I’m STILL trying to get scheduled but no one can help. Not to mention, the first person i spoke to today literally put me on hold after waiting on hold already and didn’t even tell me where she was transferring me too. After waiting on hold for an additional 4 min, i hung up and called back again and just spoke to billing. Requested to just cancel this membership and be done. The billing lady was very nice but the damage has already been done. My advice: screen your therapists better and check in with the client to see how things are going. Also, teach your customer service employees some actual customer service. I could go into more of my intersections with customer service but I’ll just leave it at this.
